http://www.the-yemen.com/vb/images/icons/icon1.gif help me understand this very funny "yemeni thing" Ya Yemenis
:biggrin:http://www.the-yemen.com/vb/images/smilies/tongue.gifhttp://www.the-yemen.com/vb/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Helloo Marahba, This is Shareef once again

OK this is funny true story

you guys know how in Yemen there is this thing about classifying social classes
like there the "qabeeli" from good roots and what not
there is the "sayeed" or hashmi
there is the "aghdam" not necessarily black skinned but you get what i mean

but also there is this thing where a family who work in the produce line
which is known commonly as "khuthary" or person who sells vegetables for living
and a family who work or make living from butcher business, or meat business
and people who cut hair

these kind of families are looked at as being lower social class EVEN if their roots are originally from a well known family or tribe

and a "Qabeeli won't marry from these families or marry to them
it is considered almost like a sin :eek:0
this one of the reasons Yemen is not being able to merge from the stone ages
not to mention this conflicts with the teaching of Islam which we're supposed to follow and leave the "gahlee" era
but it seems we are still in the "Gahleah"0

anyhow here is the funny thing that i want help to understand

a friend of mine who came to America in the early 2000s like myself
but choose not to go to school
he ends up working in a gercory store in NY and his job is in the vegetables and fruits section, and hes been doing that since then

lately he decided to go back to yemen and get married
so he calls his family and asks them to find him a nice girl
so they did find him a girl from a nearby village
so he was excited and all
a few months later as he was perparing to depart he gets a call from his family stating that the did a further investigation on the girl's family roots and found out guess what???:eek:0

they found out that this girl's family are classified as "ghuthery" or like i said family who made living from selling vegetables
no keep in mind this
this family is not longer selling vegetables but did once upon a time
and.......the girl herself didn't even work as veritable salespersonhttp://www.the-yemen.com/vb/images/smilies/biggrin.gif0

know they guy along with his family changes their mind :confused:0

try to remember this as you try to explain

the family are not long in buiness http://www.the-yemen.com/vb/images/smilies/tongue.gif0
the girl has no idea about this thing what
the guy on the other hand sells and make living from vegetables in a NY store
